About me
"I am writing to take this opportunity to give you a brief overview of some of my qualifications. I have
over 30 years of experience in the field of education; 15 years in Early Childhood Education, 2 years in Elementary General Education, 3 years in Early Childhood Special Education, and 10 years as the Reading Intervention, Inclusion and Resource, ECSE, Alternative Learning Classroom, and Safe Optimal Learning Environment Classroom Special Education Program Specialist.
I am Highly qualified through examination (TExES) in EC-6 Generalist and EC-12 Special Education. I received a Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy Pre-K to 6th grade (2011). I have a California Master Teacher Permit in Early Childhood Education and over 30 units in Early Childhood Education.
I have various experience with school age children elementary and middle school, early childhood aged children (3 years-6 years), and children with Special needs. I have experience administrating district wide programs for Special Education. I have experience conducting classroom observations and providing instructional coaching and support to General Education and Special Education Teachers. I have a thorough knowledge of Special Education compliance and Federal law, collaborating with educational stakeholders to develop, facilitate, and implement an IEP. I have supervised other employees. I consider myself an advocate for Early Childhood and Special Education students and families. I intend to stay in Texas and continue my advocacy for Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, and Early Literacy education. I was a Teach for America Corps 2012-2014 corps member, attended the TFA ECE Retreat in 2014 and am a current member of the International Literacy Association, current member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and a volunteer for First Book San Antonio. I have designed and presented numerous workshops and professional development sessions; some of the subjects included Phonics through Puppets, Classroom and Behavior management, Visual Strategies to support Behavior, Active Learning strategies, Oral Language and Vocabulary Development in The Early Childhood Environment, Sensory Based Instruction in an ECE and Special Education Classroom, Autism Support and Strategies, Facilitating a Legal Binding ARD, and many others. I have researched, written, and received numerous grants to provide necessary materials, experiences, and supplies to meet the needs of my students. I have developed, designed, implemented, secured funding, and currently manage a district wide Early Literacy Intervention Program for Early Childhood Special Needs children.
